Design Your Own Labels for Your Projects

Since I've been making custom items, I've wanted to put my mark on it. I've searched for idea after idea and I've seen a lot of questions for the home sewing industry as to how-to make your own labels.
I've tried many, many techniques but this one by far is the best one I've run across. The possibilities are endless and you can change them or customize them for a particular product category. Click on image to get step-by-step instructions for Patchwork Pottery.
Materials:
- computer, graphics program (I used photoshop) & inkjet printer
- regular printer paper
- iron-on transfer paper
- utility knife, cutting mat & metal ruler
- ribbon (I used 1/2 inch natural cotton twill tape)
- iron & ironing board
- scissors

This item in now on Sale on Etsy. I love the way it turned out and the color combination reminds me of ice cream. I've also starting dabbling in Polymer Clay so I made a custom zipper pull and flower bud which can be seen below. What do you think?

"The rules of the contest are quite easy - create an item using my Midwest Modern fabric. That’s it! Any sewing project of your choice. It could be one from my new EQ CD; one of my sewing patterns; one of your favorite sewing patterns; or an original project you’ve created - the possibilities are endless!
Then you can email a picture of your project. The contest runs from June 1st through September 15th, so everyone has plenty of time to create. I will be adding a flickr page to my website where I will showcase all of your wonderful projects. I will choose the 10 winners in late September and each of you will receive a wonderful prize package of Midwest Modern fat quarters, a selection of my sewing patterns and a signed copy of my new Softwares from The Electric Quilt Company.

My daughter asked me to make something for her favorite 4 teachers. I suggested journal covers with 5x8 inch pads and a pen. She loved the idea and this is what I made for them:

It's 9AM today and my doorbell rings. Hmmm who could be at my door this early? I'm wondering if someone was bringing me a Publisher's Clearinghouse award or something.
Nope, wasn't PC, but something better. A big brown truck with a handsome man stepped out in his little shorts (I live in Florida) holding this large box with a smile on his face, but my smile was bigger because I knew what he had in his hand. My brand new baby and here she is.

How Do I Love Thee!! Let me count the Top 10 ways....- It is BEAUTIFUL!
- It is a 'Project Runway Limited Edition'
- I has 294 Stitches
- It sews like a dream
- All the most common stitches are a fingertip away
- It has a knee lifter so I can keep my hands free to hold the fabric I have to get used to this feature because I've never had a knee lifter before
- The motor is so quiet I have to check to make sure it is on
- Like my Brother PE700 embroidery machine it has a automatic needle threader a feature I love
- It has so many feet I'm not sure what they all do, but I like that I have options
- The most beneficial feature is the AUTOMATIC THREAD CUTTER at the push of a button
I am so pleased with this machine the Brother 294 Stitch 'Project Runway' Limited Edition. Of course the machine is $599, but it was sooooo worth it. I can't wait to sew with my wonderful polyester embroidery threads that I also purchased. They are grand.

I had these fab fat quarter pieces and I wasn't sure what I was going to make with them since it was only a few scraps.

I decided I was going to start writing more, but what could I put my pad in that was convenient yet stylish. I found this great tut on making a journal cover, so without further ado, here it is:

Had a little fabric left over so I decided the journal needed a partner so I made this little wallet to go along with it.

Yipee! I've created my first sewing e-Book
